Homologation and COC
What is homologation?
Homologation is the granting of approval by an official authority. This may be a court of law, a government department, or an academic or professional body, any of which would normally work from a set of rules or standards to determine whether such approval should be given.
What is a COC document?
The Certificate of Conformity (COC) is a document proving that the produced type of vehicle at the time of its production fulfils all the technical requirements needed, as documented in the corresponding homologation. A foodtrailer requires by law the (correct) homologation for the EU. This means that with a COC document you can register your Foodtrailers anywhere in the EU.
Homologation, COC and Le Grand Foodtrailers
Le Grand Foodtrailers is a fully independent and within the EU accredited food trailer builder. All our products are therefore homologated within the EU and come with our own COC document. This ensures that our food trailers can be registered anywhere in the EU without problems.
About
Deliveries
How does my food trailer get to me?
When purchasing, we will discuss in advance whether you will pick up the trailer at one of our dealerships or whether it will be shipped directly to you.
About
Energy and Autonomy
What forms of energy supply do we offer in our food trailers?
Basically, we offer 3 forms of energy supply:
- 220 Volt
- 400 Volt power current
- Gas
What are the differences between these forms of energy?
In basic terms, 220 volts is sufficient for many equipment. Unfortunately, when equipment is connected to the same group it requires too much power and this causes power failure. For this reason, we divert to 400 Volt power current.
In some places it is not possible to connect your food trailer to the mains or high-voltage electricity. We offer the gas solution for this.
It’s also important to think beforehand about what energy options are available at the locations where you will be using the food trailer. The equipment mounted in the food trailer works only on electric power or gas, not on both.
About
Drivers license and weight
What are the rules regarding drivers license and towing a food trailer?
The rules are the same throughout the EU. Do you have driving license B? Then you may use a car:
- Tow a trailer with a maximum weight of 750 kg (empty weight + loading capacity);
- Tow a trailer of more than 750 kg if the car and trailer together do not exceed 3,500 kg (empty weight + loading capacity).
What does this mean for Le Grand Foodtrailers?
Le Grand Foodtrailers have a maximum weight between 1000 and 1300 kg. So if your car does not have an empty weight + loading capacity over 2200 to 2500 kg, you can drive all our trailers with drivers license B. Please keep in mind the maximum mass your vehicle may tow.
